January 18th 2008

So today is the real deal. Once we leave Hollywood we aint comin' back for 3 weeks. We are all eager to get going but the 8am start ends up being a 1pm start. It's not ideal cause we have a very long drive to Vegas, but we are so excited we just don' care. TM's have done it all before but for us this is new. We love it.

Before you know it we are at a truck stop a couple of hours into the journey. Unfortunately we get stuck behind a huge queue of busses, lorries etc for an hour! That is not good. We head off with our driver Skeet doing the best he can. You gotta remember that the bus is very old (it was used by Lynrd Skynrd throughout 1976, so you have to be careful. The clutch sounds like it is gonna die on every single gear change, and hill climbs are long and drawn out. In the wise words of Johnny Jetson - "you have to really love the bus. If you love her, she will love you back" I hope I never walk in and catch anyone 'loving' the bus too much!

Hours roll by and we are taking in the scenery and chatting to the guys in the band as it's the first chance we've really had. We all seem to get along fine - which is good seeing as none of us have met before and we've got three weeks on the road together.

Suddenly the familiar sight (to those of us that have been to Vegas) of the Mandalay Bay hotel and the Luxor are in our vision. We are in Vegas. 5 minutes later we roll up to the venue and park the bus. The gig is a launch party for a new promo company called 'Covet' and Sarah who runs it meets us and leads us into the dressing room. Takes me at least a minute to catch my breath!!! We have a HUGE dressing room with seats and mirrors for 10. There are showers and clean toilets - it is great after being on the bus. The guys have also given each band a 1.5 litre bottle of Jim Beam with a thankyou card, a massive plate of rolls, a huge platter of fresh fruit and as many drinks as we want. Is this what being a rock star is like? I WANT MORE! The funny part is that later on things just get better and better.

The venue itself is awesome and to me it looks like somewhere that's be cool to shoot live performance video. It used to be a 'titty bar' but you wouldn't know. It is the plushest venue any of us have played. My friends Alicia has come to the gig with her boyfriend. I appreciate that massively.

The gig goes great. We play really well, although I am told vocals were too quiet. Ah well, I looked good ;-)

The press are all over us. Photographers snap throughout the set. This is such a strange feeling. I do interviews with Las Vegas Rocks (magazine) and Las Vegas Weekly (magazine). The rest of the guys also pose for photos with various press.

Johnny gets presented a birthday cake on stage at the end of their set. We all meet and greet and schmooze and get showered. We have an after party to attend. From here onwards needs a new blog. So I'll get onto that now.

Great gig. Great Venue. The stage was amazing. We all performed like our lives depended on it. Welcome to Las Vegas!!!!!
